How to fix camera on Chromebook new method

The camera (or webcam) on your laptop is considered a "plug and play" device. This means that your Chromebook should recognize the device without the need of drivers to operate it. If there is an issue with your camera, it could be due to a software glitch or an issue with the hardware itself. If you're having a problem with your Chromebook hardware or operating system, try the steps below. Test your Chromebook after each step to see if the problem is fixed.

If your camera isn't working, or if you see a message that says "No camera found":

  1. Turn off your Chromebook, then turn it back on.
  2. Try using the camera in another app, like Hangouts. If it works in that app, uninstall the app where it doesn't work, then reinstall it.
  3. Reset your Chromebook.
  4. Recover your Chromebook.

If you're still having trouble after trying these steps, contact your Chromebook manufacturer.

Note : You can also factory reset with the shortcut keys. First click the Taskbar on the bottom right corner, and then click Sign out. Press and hold ctrl + alt + shift + r, and then click Restart. When a popup box appears, click Powerwash > Continue.
