Apple Releases iOS 16.4.1 First Time 'Emergency Security Update' for iPhone, iPad and MacBooks
Apple has released an urgent update for iPhone, iPad and MacBook devices that have received the update with version number 16.4.1.
Apple released emergency patches today for its latest operating system updates. The patches, released as 'Rapid Security Response', have closed critical vulnerabilities detected in iPhones, iPads and MacBooks.
Although Apple did not explicitly share these security disclosures, the company's recent 'Rapid Security Responses' notes explained as follows:
Many users experienced problems while Apple's security update was being released. Although updates can be downloaded, some users were unable to install the update on their devices. Especially on iPhones, the error that the device was not connected to the internet appeared.
So, why did Apple release such an update?
Although Apple did not share the rationale for the update, last month Citizen Lab found a critical vulnerability in the "Lock Mode" on the devices. Due to the security vulnerability, Apple's smart home platform HokeKit was recorded as enabling attacks.
